Aku dan Kain: Wonders of Weaving

In celebrating the harmony among Indonesian fabrics' past, present, and future, Aku dan Kain: Wonders of Weaving installation was created as a manifestation of collaborative action among fashion designer, architect, weaving specialist, and lighting designer.

The weaving technique, well-known as the traditional way of Indonesian processing fabric, is designed and formed in a contemporary three-dimensional spatial composition by Seniman Ruang to present an immersive experience that generates ingenuous beauty within the darkness. Each area is a contemplative journey of discovering Indonesia cultural richness that delivers the oldest Indonesian fabric collection of Museum Nasional, complemented with the finishing space which elevates the contemporary approach of Oscar Lawalata's fashion design sensibility.

Aku dan Kain: Wonders of Weaving

As the space-forming weaving artwork by ByoLiving, the curved sectional panels are made from specially designed textile weaving patterns winning Japan's Good Design Award 2021 for the latest computational customization technology applied to modernistic machining panels as weaving patterned structures. Furthermore, the lighting constellation arrangement unveils intertwining time-like dimensions of past, present, and future through negative space dimming of the weaving panels presented by ErreLuce.

The installation redefines the essence of timeless beauty by disrupting our notion about "old" and "new", combining the two shapes in our living space where tradition and local ingenuity can be the weaving essence of current society and future generations.
