Shimwell™ Hinge Packers suitable for use with the HQ3 & HQ4 hinges, available in satin stainless steel. Traditionally, a piece of cardboard (or worse) is used to pack behind the hinge when installing an external door, or correcting a jamb that is out of alignment. However, materials such as cardboard compresses, causing the door to migrate, sag, and bind in the jamb.
Shimwells™ are always installed by the joiner when initially fitting the door, and make it easy to adjust the door when the door swells, and ends the inconvenience of having to plane the door down to release the bind. Simply loosen the hinge screws, and remove the 0.5mm, 1mm or 2mm Shimwells™ to bring the door back into alignment.
Each Shimwell™moves the hinge pin in between 0.5 – 2.0mm and can be used in pairs to create a larger shim to suit more severe gaps.
