The AK Residence is situated in the convenient neighborhood with a lot of tall trees surrounding the area. The owner of the house is a young couple who likes old school style houses. They also really like collecting antiques and classic furniture, and really pay attention to detail. With these unique needs and desires, we tried to create a simple residence with a facade that blends with the natural surroundings, and created a residential concept that is light, not too obtrusive, and has characteristics that suit the owner.
From the facade itself, we use natural Palimanan stone as the main material for the building fence to create a warm and natural atmosphere, giving the building a feel that is friendly to the environment. The choice of this type of solid fence aims to create privacy for the owner who often relaxes and enjoys coffee on the front terrace of the house. The carport and entrance to this house use dark colored andesite stone to provide contrast, creating a bold effect on this house. Textured paint also applied to the most of the surface of the house to give character to the house.
This site has a contour that slopes towards the back, so there is a difference in height between the carport and the building itself. The use of the ramp as the main route to the house also aims to create an attractive circulation and aims to enable disabled people to use it. With this circular circulation, we also create the effect of short journey that divides the space between the public and home area.
Entering the inside of the house, here there are several skylights to create natural lighting during the day to minimize the use of lights. Most area of the house have 2 storey height ceiling to create a spacious atmosphere inside. The variations in the flooors and voids in this house create continuous interaction between the first and seconds floor and create a spacious effect in the room by reducing partitions that block the view horizontally and vertically.
The dining and kitchen areas are located at the front mass of the house because they are the areas that are most frequently used by the owner. Above the kitchen and pantry, there is a bridge that connects the main corridor on the 2nd floor and the children's bedroom. The living room is in the back area of the house, equipped with an empty space where the owner can gather with his family or hold certain family events.
