NOMU Restaurant is a new Indonesian and Asian-fusion dining place in Kota Malang, Jawa Timur. The former place was refurbished to create a totally new dining ambience with a contemporary style.
With their identity as an Indonesian and Asian-fusion resto, NOMU is designed to highlight a warm ambience. Using synthetic rattan on the facade creates a tropical look to represent the traditionality of Indonesia. However, to strengthen the identity of the rattan, the overall look is designed with a more minimalistic approach. Greyish concrete and white elements are added to achieve this ideal.
The objective of using a multifunctional rattan facade is to cater for the different temperatures between day and night. To maximise the air circulation, the facade can be utilised for both open and close, depending on the situation.
The first-floor entrance is designed with an indirect focus. It is objectified to attract customers, along with sculptural artwork to commute to the outdoor area first before entering the resto.
