This house was an assignment from a young & small family located in a dense urban neighborhood north coast of Jakarta, Indonesia. The land size itself relatively limited in such a packed residential area. All houses there were attached one to another, wall to wall, and trees seems to be a rare sight.
So, our first decision was to create a house that allow the space to breath. Good air circulation all the way through the inside of the house by making a green & lush stretch of tropical garden from the front to the rearmost part of the house. This 2.75 meter width garden will give such a relaxing tropical vibe within the area. One massive & old frangipani tree as front statement & ended with 6 meter tall eucalyptus tree at the end of the garden. This green garden highlighting the most important essence of a house as a place where people can rest after their hectic daily life.
The dominant green garden combined with a simple modern design language of a 3 storey house. Simple enough to cater many functions requested by the owner. Some design features introduced to provide layers of textures, colours, and overlapping space. Red terracota feature walls to conceal the main door as well as a strong colour statement at the front area. We have also selected some bright colours like green cabinets for the kitchen, red and green loose furniture combination for the living room, and white marble look for master bathroom. Those colour selection were to match the owner’s young and vibrant lifestyle
