A major redevelopment of the Makino Aquatic Centre in Fielding was required to provide more access, programmes and experiences for the Manuwatu community.
Originally opened in 1972 as an outdoor pool only, an indoor pool was added in 1992. With time, the building’s structure deteriorated and population growth increased demand on the facilities; an upgrade was prioritised by the Manawatu District Council.
With a design by architects Create Ltd, the old, dilapidated structure has been transformed into a modern community facility. The structure required straightening/correcting, it was raised in height and reclad by contractors Insulation Panel and Door Ltd.
A variety of Kingspan products were selected for use on the facility: Kingspan’s Trapezoidal KS1000 RW panels on the roof, along with Architectural Wall Panels(KS1000 AWP) with a ‘Plank’ profile, and BENCHMARK Evolution panels on the walls.
Product of Choice
Kingspan’s insulated panels have become the product of choice for swimming pool environments for their ease of installation and maintenance of the pool’s vapour control.
AQUAsafe
The addition of Kingspan’s Aquasafe liner to the closed-cell, rigid PIR insulation core and purpose-engineered panel joints, results in an impermeable barrier, providing a protective internal skin that will resist attack from the internal pool environment.
High Standards
Kingspan panels are manufactured to ISO 9001 standards from the highest quality materials, using state-of-the art production equipment to rigorous quality control standards, ensuring long term reliability and service life.
Business and Property Protection
The Kingspan roof and wall panels used on this project meet the highest property loss prevention product testing and certification standards. The FM mark is recognised by the world’s leading regulatory authorities.
