Global hospitality design firm HBA proudly unveils its project in Indonesia: The Episode Hotel Gading Serpong, a contemporary hotel that pays tribute to the natural beauty and cultural richness of Bantam.
Historically celebrated for its lush topography, flowing rivers, and vibrant traditions, Bantam's essence has slowly faded amidst rapid urban development. HBA’s design for The Episode Hotel aims to restore this connection. Reviving Bantam’s spirit through thoughtful storytelling, materiality, and a strong sense of place.
“Designing The Episode Hotel transcends beyond aesthetics," said Christin Castillo, Principal of HBA Indonesia, “It was an opportunity to reconnect a modern destination with its cultural roots. Every space in the hotel tells a story of Bantam, sharing inspiration from Peranakan and Baduy cultures, its nature, people, and legacy, reinterpreted for the modern traveler.”
From the grand Main Ballroom to the immersive Peranakan and Baduy-inspired guest rooms, each area is layered with textures, colors, and forms drawn from local heritage. The Sky Lobby invites guests into an elevated experience that feels both refined and familiar, while the Spa, Meeting Rooms, and their All Day Dining area, Babah Ramu offer a seamless blend of function, comfort, and cultural nuance.
Rich detailing, indigenous motifs, and contemporary materials come together to create a hotel experience that is not only luxurious but also deeply rooted in identity. Whether it’s the curated patterns in the Ballroom Hallway, the lively character of the buffet and dining areas, or the serene elegance of the spa retreat, The Episode Hotel offers a narrative-led design journey that resonates with today’s culturally curious traveler.
This project marks another milestone in HBA’s ongoing commitment to designing spaces that celebrate local context while meeting global standards of hospitality excellence.
