We have designed sculptural staircases that are suspended from the ceiling by a row of battens, intended to attract japanese spirit and create a light yet strong interior presence.
The structure curls up from the ground floor to the upper mezzanine. It continues at a dif- ferent location to the upper floor.
The stairs are suspended from the ceiling by a row of battens so that they don’t touch the floor. The battens act as a structural element and also as a balustrade that wind up through the space, providing a warm aesthetic and helping to control acoustics.
