The most captivating aspect of a space is when it tells a story through the artistry it embodies. Here at Madawa, we aim to recount a tale from the Mahabharata epic, in which the Pandavas faced a fateful gamble in the palace of Hastinapura, with Drupadi – their wife -- is at stake against the Kauravas. This narrative closely mirrors the functional space we've created, housing a restaurant, bar, and a night club—a place where profound activities unfold, much like the events in Hastinapura.
We have collaborated closely with local artists, from the design stage to installation, in the realization of this space. The reimagining of characters and stories takes us on a journey of artistic exploration, blending modern interor with an ancient epic. What occured in Hastinapura is vividly presented through Kamasan paintings, carvings, sculptures of Nandaka and Nandini, and a chandelier that captures the infinite flow of Drupadi's garment when the Kauravas attempted to disrobe her.
