About Durra Panel

Ortech Industries, an Australian owned company incorporated in 1985, manufactures Durra Panel, Durra Steel Sections and Durra Panelised Building Systems at its production facility located in Bendigo Victoria.
Durra Panel is a unique rigid building product that combines the desirable properties of low embodied energy, strength, acoustic and thermal insulation together with a high degree of impact and fire resistance.
Manufactured using innovative Australian developed technology, Durra Panel is produced using a unique dry extrusion process that converts a natural and renewable resource; wheat or rice straw fibres (biomass) into durable construction panels. The low energy manufacturing process requires no water or gas and is completely free of chemical additives, or binding agents. The result is an economical multi use construction material that is 100% biodegradable at the end of its useful life - an environmentally preferable product, with a proven track record over 50 years throughout Australia and internationally.
Durra Panel and Durra Steel Sections may be used separately as general purpose construction materials or be combined together to form a wide range of panelised roof, ceiling, wall and flooring systems – commercial, industrial and residential applications.
A corner stone objective of our business is to satisfy the ever growing need for innovative techniques combined with modular solutions and pre fabrication – Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) methodology.
Ortech Industries uses engineered precision processes to manufacture Durra Panel and Durra Steel Sections in a safe and controlled off site factory environment in accordance with project supplied specifications and shop drawings. The pre-cut, marked and packaged components are then sent to site ready for safe, no waste ground based assembly into large panelised roof, ceiling and wall modules that are installed using the Durra Lifting Frame.
