Design Description of "Xiao Man" Project

This residential project establishes a contemporary minimalist framework infused with natural elements and wabi-sabi aesthetics, creating a warm and tactile living environment. Through meticulous analysis of the owner's lifestyle and aesthetic preferences, the designer achieved an organic integration of functional practicality and artistic expression, culminating in a highly personalized quality space.

Located in Rongchuang Shanshui Chenyuan, Bengbu City, Anhui Province, this 180㎡ flat-layer residence underwent an 11-month renovation starting from January 2023. Material applications demonstrate sophisticated layering: terrazzo-patterned tiles form a continuous floor base, while art coatings dominate walls and ceilings. Strategic interventions like exposed concrete beams and wood veneer paneling create dynamic visual rhythms through material contrasts.

The spatial reorganization features a circuitous living room layout that dissolves original fragmented partitions, achieving seamless integration of living, dining, and kitchen areas. The fluid circular circulation not only expands spatial perception but also enhances functional interconnectivity.

Furnishings balance formal aesthetics with ergonomic considerations. Curvilinear coffee tables, sculptural mirrors, and handcrafted ceramics create material dialogues between wood, metal, and clay. A dramatic linear chandelier cascading from the double-height ceiling activates vertical dimensions, amplifying spatial tension.

The lighting system employs multi-layered configurations, combining feature lighting with concealed LED strips to accommodate various scenarios. A consistent 3000K warm white temperature bathes spaces in serene luminosity. Contrast serves as the core design language: interlocking volumes in the feature wall, material juxtapositions at corridor terminals, and void-solid partitions in the master bedroom all generate vibrant spatial dynamics through calculated visual tensions.

Ultimately, this project presents a residential vessel that harmonizes modern rationality with natural poetry. Through contemporary interpretation of wabi-sabi principles, it cultivates a warm, textural spatial character within a refined framework, crafting a spiritual sanctuary that nourishes both body and mind.
