Hong Kong Green Building Council “My Green Space” Student Competition 2024-2025 Award Presentation Ceremony Successfully Concludes Exhibition Continues to Inspire

The Ceremony welcomed numerous winning students with their parents and teachers, alongside representatives from the Education Bureau, Chinachem Group, Competition Task Force Members, and Supporting Organisations from sustainability, architecture, engineering, and academic fields. Over 120 guests gathered to honour the innovative achievements of the students.
Recognising Innovation, Inspiring Action
Dr CHEUNG Tin-cheung, Chairman of the HKGBC, delivered the Opening Remarks with a call to action: “The Competition this year highlights the creativity and passion of youth for sustainable development of our city. We hope students will incorporate their learning into daily life and future careers, and join hands to contribute to the green building and sustainable development.”
Mr Ben HUNG, Chief Curriculum Development Officer (Moral and Civic Education)1 of the Education Bureau, also praised the Competition for encouraging students to creatively address environmental challenges, benefiting society and fully embodying the educational spirit of integrating knowledge with practice.
Ms Amy WU, Director of Corporate Communications of Chinachem Group, shared the company’s commitment to foster green transformation. She is delighted that participants drew inspiration from the green building tours organised by the Group, incorporating relevant green building concepts into their works. She also encouraged the public to visit the exhibition and explore the award-winning entries up close.
The speeches delivered by the speakers conveyed a shared vision, setting a positive tone for the event and officially marking the commencement of the Ceremony. Thereafter, the distinguished guests presented the awards to the outstanding winners across different divisions.
Engaging Dialogues, Embracing Visions
During the Ceremony, four sharing sessions took place where winning student representatives exchanged ideas with guests. The discussions covered diverse innovative themes spanning green technologies, environmental education, community connectivity, and bamboo applications. Students shared their rewards from participating in the Competition, as well as their future aspirations. These heartfelt exchanges showcased the ideals and ambitions of the younger generation and inspired guests with visions for a green city future. The guests also highly praised their enthusiasm, encouraging them to embrace challenges and explore the potential for academic and industry partnerships. The sessions were lively and filled with applause.
Students then guided the guests through the exhibition, offering insights into their entry designs and concepts.
“The Envision Tree of Green and Smart City” Installation
A highlight of the Ceremony was the tree-shaped installation, “The Envision Tree of Green and Smart City”. Students, along with guests, and participants, wrote their beautiful visions for building a green smart city on cards made from recycled materials and hung them on the tree. More than a hundred colourful cards of various shapes were made from recycled packaging and recycled paper collected by participants. This not only symbolised the collective goal to promote sustainable development, but also put environmental protection in action, making it particularly meaningful.
Exhibition Continues to Showcase Creativity
To further promote the concept and importance of green building, the venue remained open as a public exhibition after the Award Presentation Ceremony. From 3 to 12 September 2025, 30 award-winning entries from various divisions are displayed, welcoming the public and industry professionals to explore these innovative works and join in building a greener living environment.
