As of 31 December 2024, 4,497 buildings had been first certified by BEAM Plus. The total estimated carbon emissions saved by assessed projects in the New Buildings category alone reached 1.45 million tons per year, equivalent to planting 63 million trees – the same amount of carbon emitted by taking 3.16 million round-trip flights from Hong Kong to Tokyo or operating 11,170 double-decker diesel buses for a year. Furthermore, the BEAM Plus certified area per capita in Hong Kong reached over 8.15 m2, an increase of 11% compared to the previous year, while the total area of soft landscaping in certified projects was equivalent to 234 Hong Kong Stadium pitches.
The report is updated annually to help readers better understand the important initiatives and progress made by the Council in promoting green building and creating a greener future. This year, factsheets in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese versions are available for easy downloading.
