The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Hong Kong Chapter has announced that they are now accepting submissions for their 2024 Honors & Awards program. This annual event celebrates exceptional achievements in architecture, interiors, urban design, and unbuilt projects by AIA Hong Kong Chapter members, as well as other licensed architects practicing within the region.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated 2024 AIA International Conference, which will once again take place in the exciting city of Hong Kong. The organization is inviting architects, designers, and industry professionals from around the world to join them in October for this three-day event.

The Hong Kong chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) is proud to congratulate two of its esteemed members on their recent accolades.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - The AIA Hong Kong Chapter is set to host an exciting event that will shine a spotlight on sustainable design practices in Vietnam. "Practicing Sustainability | A Glocal Perspective in Vietnam" will take place from June 13-15 and feature a dynamic lineup of building tours, office visits, and a panel discussion.

Kuk Po Common, a community public space that combines architectural conservation and design with culture, art, community, landscape, and ecology, has emerged after three years of research, design, and construction. Located beneath the mountains and facing the Kuk Po wetland along the coast of the Sha Tau Kok Sea, Kai Choi School and its annex block are now ready to be reopened for their new purpose.

The AIA Hong Kong Chapter event, held on April 11th, 2024 and sponsored by Steelcase, brought together architects, design professionals, and other experts. Led by Paul Gardner from Fresh Accounting, the event covered various topics, including project-based accounting, fee structure and billing, budgeting and forecasting, technology integration, risk management, talent empowerment, strategic financial planning, and industry realities.

How architects can run successful practices in the current economic climate and seize new opportunities" is the focal point of an upcoming event. The event features Paul Gardner, a Corporate Affiliate from fresh accounting, who will be sharing valuable insights on various topics such as project-based accounting, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management, technology integration, risk mitigation, strategic financial planning, employee compensation, and succession planning.

In a quest to explore the intersection of collaboration, cultural diversity, and architectural practice, Eric, a representative from the AIA Hong Kong Chapter, embarked on an enlightening journey to New York City. During his visit, Eric had the opportunity to delve into the vibrant design scene, engaging with three prominent architectural firms: Buro Koray Duman, Gehl Architects, and Henning Larsen. Their groundbreaking approaches to collaboration have redefined the boundaries of architectural practice, paving the way for innovative solutions in an increasingly interconnected world

In a gathering of over 400 architects, the event featured keynote speeches and more than 12 breakout learning sessions. The discussions revolved around defining the practice of architecture and advocating for the rights of architects and the communities they serve. Witnessing hundreds of architects traveling to the capital to address the needs of their local constituents, forge new connections within local and international chapters, and delve into topics of mutual interest was a truly enlightening experience. Additionally, the event introduced the term "architectural pivots," expanding the scope of architectural pursuits.

The AIA Hong Kong Chapter's annual Honors & Awards Program celebrates outstanding work in architecture, interiors, urban design, and unbuilt projects undertaken by our Chapter's members and other licensed architects practicing in Hong Kong, China and the Asia Pacific Region. Through these awards, we aspire to motivate our community to pursue excellence, embrace sustainability, and ultimately, leave a lasting positive impact on the world around us.

12th December, 2022, 14 AIA Hong Kong presidents along with 150 members and corporate affiliates gathered at M+ to celebrate the Chapter’s accomplishments in the last 25 years. We wish to thank our sponsors and M+ for making the dinner - with Yayoi Kusama artwork in the background - a roaring success.

The annual Honors & Awards event is the highlight of the year for AIA Hong Kong members and we would be honored if you can join the celebration. Awards will be presented for excellence in design, planning, sustainability, and dedication to the preservation and improvement of our built environment. We will celebrate the emergence of young architects with awards for scholastic achievement to the outstanding graduates from the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Chu Hai College, and presentations will also be made to new Honorary Affiliate Members as well as to recipients of Community Citations for projects that have benefited the public.
