ACRYLIC WATERPROOFING
Sika® RainTite waterproofing system consists of a combination of :
Sika® RainTite Waterproofing Compound
- Highly flexible UV resistant acrylic emulsion
Sika® RainTite Membrane
- Non-woven polyester membrane
The system forms a fully bonded, durable, flexible waterproofing membrane
- External weather & UV resistant
- Easy to use and apply
- No priming
Usage:
- Concrete sloped roofs (with membrane)
- Finishing
- Sealing joints, laps and roofing screws on various kind of roofs (roof tile, asbestos, zinc)
- Parapet walls
- External walls
Advantages:
- External weather & UV resistant
- Easy to use and apply
- No priming
- Excellent adhesion to most surfaces
- High flexibility
- Thixotropic
- Non toxic
- Will not promote fungal growth
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION:
Surface must be clean, sound and properly cured. Remove all loose materials mechanically, preferably with a wire brush. Iron and steel surfaces should be free of rust.
APPLICATION:
Without Membrane:
- For porous substrate, apply first coat Sika® RainTite diluted with 10 % water as primer layer. Allow enough drying time (> 3 hours, depending upon ambient conditions)
- Apply Sika® RainTite in two coats (~ 0.3 kg/m2/coat), by brush or roller
With Membrane :
- For porous substrate, apply first coat Sika® RainTite diluted with 10 % water as primer layer. Allow enough drying time (> 3 hours, depending upon ambient conditions)
- Apply a first coat (0.8–1 kg/m2) of Sika® RainTite by brush or roller
- Embed the Sika® RainTite membrane into the first coat while it is still wet. Ensure that the membrane is thoroughly embedded and smooth out all air pockets and creases. Overlaps of adjacent membrane must be a minimum of 50 mm
- Immediately apply a second coat (0.8–1 kg/m2) of Sika® RainTite while the first coat is still wet, to fully saturate the membrane from both sides
- When dry, apply a final top coat (~ 0.4 kg/m2) to complete the application. Protect from rain until dry
CLEANING OF TOOLS:
Remove uncured surface Sika® RainTite with water. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.
