The Hong Kong Data Center Market size is estimated at 1.42 thousand MW in 2025 and is expected to reach 2.1 thousand MW by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 8.18%.
Hong Kong's data centre market landscape is experiencing significant expansion. The region currently hosts 53 colocation data centre facilities. Major operators are focusing on developing high-tier facilities, with Tier 4 data centres maintaining an impressive 83% occupancy rate,
highlighting the strong demand for premium data centre services. The scarcity of land has led to innovative approaches, with operators increasingly focusing on converting old industrial buildings into modern data center facilities, supported by government incentives and special wavers for building upgrades. (*)In order to facilitate Specifiers of Date Centre projects to choose the right product systems, Fosroc summarized the Specialized Product Solution for Data Centre as below.
Most projects in HK are hightier facilities, requiring minimal downtime for Data Centre. Therefore, repairs and maintenance due to water leaks or defects like concrete deterioration must be avoided. “Fosroc Polyurea WPE”, is a high strength spray polyurea membrane system, commonly used in these demanding projects.

Below ground and basement waterproofing are critical to most projects, especially for Data Centres, which must operate 24/7 to meet Tier IV Uptime requirements.
In high-risk conditions, BS8102 recommends using a combination of waterproofing types (e.g Basement tanking membrane and Waterproof Concrete). Fosroc offers the following combination systems:
“Proofex Engage” is a mechanically fully bonded membrane system that complies with BS8102, offering strong protection against water, vapour and methane gas in all basement grades.
“Conplast WP500” is a waterproof admixture added to concrete, creating fully impermeable concrete with less than 1% water absorptions, enhancing structural longevity.

For the floor at the data hall and underneath of raised access floor system, it requires a robust and easyto- clean surface to support the infrastructure and cabling of Data Centres application. Fosroc’s “Nitoflor FC500” and “Nitoflor SL2000” are solvent free epoxy floorings. It is hardwearing, durable and provide an easy to clean and maintained surface. For more economic choice, “Nitoflor Lithurin 2” is a liquid hardening and dustproofing compound that penetrates concrete, creating a permanent hardwearing and dust free surface.
To reduce the risk of data loss in Server Rooms and Sensitive Data Processing Areas, ESD anti-static flooring is commonly used to minimize static electricity
buildup. “Nitoflor Conductive” is an epoxy resin floor system that provides static electricity with an effective passage to earth. The system is a
seamless, hygienic surface that is durable enough for heavy foot traffic and light vehicle use. “Nitoflor Conductive” with specially designed electrical
resistance, provides an electrical conductive flooring to minimize electric buildup.
With the scarcity of land and cost concerns, Data Centre Operators has increasingly focusing on converting old industrial buildings into modern Data facilities. While all the new add on facilities are modern and functional, the old industrial building’s concrete remains old aged and steel reinforcements corrosion and spalling concretes becomes a critical issue, affecting the operation downtime of high tier Data Centres. To control the corrosion in such aged structure, one of the simplest and economic method is the application of Corrosion Inhibitor. Fosroc’s “Protectosil CIT” is an easy to use, surface apply corrosion inhibitor for steel reinforced concrete. The treatment can penetrate deeply into concrete substrates and reduce rates of any ongoing chloride or carbonation induced corrosion in existing concrete and will delay the onset of chloride induced corrosion in new and old concrete.
