Schneider Electric Partners with Link REIT and Nan Fung Group on The Quayside to Co-create Hong Kong as a Smart City

Hong Kong, 27 August, 2020 – Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, shared its successful collaboration on sustainability with Link REIT and Nan Fung Group at The Quayside, in order to achieve the shared vision on Smart City ambitions in Hong Kong.

Today, buildings account for 90% of Hong Kong’s total electricity consumption, compared to a global average of 40%. Building management plays a crucial role in achieving new energy savings, thus creating a sustainable future for Hong Kong.

To drive energy efficiency, as well as improving operational excellence and sustainability, Link REIT and Nan Fung Group has partnered with Schneider Electric. With EcoStruxure for Building from Schneider, The Quayside is able to achieve its sustainability goals with optimizing the building’s power distribution, lighting and HVAC through 30,000 connection points, visualizing the energy consumption for lifetime energy efficiency improvements, as well as delivering a superior indoor environment for occupant experience to achieve sustainability goals.

“We are very pleased to have Schneider as our trusted partner, providing us with a high level of technical competence and sharing the same vision on sustainability, in order to illustrate the future possibilities through The Quayside.” said Calvin Lee Kwan, Head of Sustainability, Link Asset Management Limited.

“With the collaboration, we expect The Quayside to set a new benchmark in energy performance. We are also confident in achieving notable enhancements in energy efficiency, as we are able to have close and real-time monitoring of different systems at the building,” said Samuel Wong, Deputy General Manager, Nan Fung Group.

An IoT-enabled smart building with best-in-class solutions

With Schneider Electric’s plug-and-play, open, interoperable IoT-enabled platform, EcoStruxure for Building, The Quayside is benefited from increased levels of operational data visibility and control to better manage building performance, occupant comfort and energy efficiency.

“We collaborated with Link REIT and Nan Fung Group to help The Quayside achieve its goals and foster the development of green landscape in Kowloon East in Hong Kong. Our IoT-enabled architecture and platform – EcoStruxure for Building brings best-in-class energy efficiency management to The Quayside. EcoStruxure Building Operation integrated multiple systems for centralized, real-time control and management across the building at The Quayside, delivering actionable insights for better management and optimization of building performance. In addition, Automation Servers and VAV Controllers adjust the air volume based on data collected from a series of connected field devices, including CO2, temperature and humidity sensors, thus improving indoor air quality and ventilation.

With the help of Schneider Electric’s products and solutions, The Quayside has achieved several international green certifications and awards, including:

  • LEED Platinum certification;
