Polyflor South Australia were proud to have donated XL PUR (base colour) & Palettone (assorted colour pattern work) to help refurbish The Women and Childrens Hospital School in North Adelaide.
The design committee at Broadfeather Design were seeking to create a space that was playful and inspiring, with a vibrant style and a bold colour palette that would appeal to children across a range of age groups. The environment also needed to instill a sense of safety and comfort, factoring in the unique conditions and range of needs of students in attendance.
The Hospital School provides educational programs for students and young people from both the public and private schooling sectors. Inpatients have access to continued learning in the classrooms on the ground floor as well as ward teaching through the hospital.
Schooling can be negotiated for outpatients unable to attend their own school and also for school-aged siblings of country/interstate patients.
Celebrating 90 years in 2020, Hospital School SA has continued to provide learning for young people within the Women's and Children's Hospital.
The revamp in 2020 included redesigning a number of junior and senior classrooms, the kitchen, a communal play area, private teaching rooms, and admin offices.
After 8 months of renovating, with the help of dozens of donations and volunteers, the space has been entirely transformed. The Women’s and Children’s Hospital, the design committee, and Polyflor are thrilled with the result.
The re-opening of the school came just in time - as 1,400 students were expected to attend classes during the 2020 school year.
