A top freezer is the one of the most common refrigerators in Asian countries. This refrigerator has two compartments. As the name suggests, the top compartment is the freezer, and the bottom compartment is for cool storage. It comes in various sizes, height, and width, and is usually with two doors to separate freezer and fridge. Pricewise, a top freezer is relatively cheaper than most other types of refrigerators.

The next one on the list is freezer-less refrigerator. As its name implies, a freezer-less refrigerator doesn’t have a freezer in it, so it usually has only one door. Without a dedicated and separated compartment for the freezer, the size of this refrigerator tends to be smaller than others. Although it is not as complete as a top freezer in terms of facility, this type of refrigerator is still favoured by homeowners with a small kitchen.

This is the reverse of the freezer-less one. A freezer does not have a cool compartment for storing. There are two types of freezers: a vertical one that looks like regular refrigerators and a chest type and a lid opening upward like those often found in supermarkets.

Bottom freezer refrigerator

Several studies suggest that a freezer should be positioned at the bottom and the fridge area on top as users tend to take things more often from the fridge part compared to the freezer. With a bottom freezer refrigerator, users don’t have to squat too frequently to take non-frozen food ingredients. However, this doesn’t apply to those who cook or work more with frozen food ingredients and will open the freezer door more often that the fridge door.

Side-by-side refrigerator

A side-by-side refrigerator has two doors, one on the left and the other one on the right. It is the type of refrigerator most commonly found in modern kitchen designs. To date, this refrigerator has many add-ons such as an extra door for ease access to beverage shelves or an integrated dispenser. With its luxurious and elegant design as well as its big size, a side-by-side refrigerator can be quite expensive.

French door refrigerator

If you are looking for a refrigerator with a big capacity and many doors, a French door refrigerator can be your choice. At glance, a French door refrigerator looks like a side-by-side refrigerator, but with three to four doors: two big doors on top and one or two additional doors at the bottom. If you have enough budget, you can consider buying a French door refrigerator.

Built-in refrigerator

A built-in refrigerator is designed to integrate with a cabinet or a cupboard so that it appears blended with the kitchen cabinet. If you fancy a kitchen design with a seamless look, this refrigerator is the right choice. Besides its design that fits into a cabinet, this refrigerator also tends to be slimmer than the rest. However, if you want to store a lot of food in your refrigerator, then a built-in refrigerator is not recommended because it has only a limited capacity. Similar to a side-by-side and a French door, a built-in refrigerator is also considered as more expensive ones.
