About Modal Architecture

Modal Architecture is a New Zealand architectural practice creating thoughtful, highly considered homes and spaces shaped around the people who use them. We design new homes, renovations and extensions, holiday homes, secondary dwellings, residential developments and selected commercial projects throughout New Zealand. Our approach begins with understanding how our clients want to live. We consider the site, surroundings, natural light, materials and everyday routines to create architecture that feels individual, purposeful and connected to its place. Rather than designing around a particular style, we believe each project should develop its own architectural response. Good design is only part of a successful project. We combine architectural thinking with practical detailing, technical knowledge and clear communication, working closely with clients, consultants and builders from the earliest ideas through to consenting and construction. Founded in 2021, Modal has grown into a nationwide practice with projects across Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown and throughout New Zealand. Our aim is simple. To create architecture that looks beautiful, works exceptionally well and makes everyday life better.
