Auckland Eye is a specialist clinical facility in Remuera, Auckland. A refurbishment of an existing facility and expansion with a new build, the primary challenge of this project was scaling the development to sit in a suburban environment.
The upgrade included a new front wing, modernisation of the existing rear wing and improving the buildings facilities and spaces. As well as an increase in examination rooms and dedicated research areas, the facility’s technology infrastructure has been future-proofed to permit flexibility for new specialist equipment.
The distinctive façade was a cost-effective design element that enhances and elevates the Auckland Eye brand. Internally, the façade improves patient and staff experience in how it allows more natural light into the building.
Sustainable design features include rainwater tanks, high performance insulation, double glazing and an allowance for solar panels.
