QUICSEAL 602 + 604
QUICSEAL 604 + QUICSEAL 602 is a specially formulated two component acrylic based polymer tile adhesive designed to bond all types of tiles and natural stones.
QUICSEAL 604 + QUICSEAL 602 adheres well to most surfaces and hardens without noticeable shrinkage. Once cured, QUICSEAL 604 + QUICSEAL 602 is resistant to water and mild chemicals as well as durable to shocks vibrations and temperature changes.
Typical Uses
QUICSEAL 604 + QUICSEAL 602 is suitable for bonding ceramic tiles, quarry tiles, klinkers, mosaics, natural stones, glass mosaics etc.:
- for both wall and floor installations;
- for internal and external areas;
- on conventional cement-sand screeds and renders.
- on swimming pools and jacuzzis;
- on fountains, ponds and water tanks;
- on external facades such as balconies, terraces;
- for tile-on-tile installations;
- external wall;
- on areas subjected to heavy traffic such as walkways and pavements.
Limitations
Do not use QUICSEAL 604 + QUICSEAL 602 to:
- bond tiles on metal surfaces. Use QUICSEAL 612 TILEPOXY;
- bond moisture sensitive agglomerates. Use QUICSEAL 612 TILEPOXY.
Substrate Preparation
The substrates must be clean and sound, free of dust and loose particles. Laitance, oil and grease must be removed from concrete surfaces by using wire brush, scabbler or other means.
Mould release agents or any foreign contaminants which may inhibit the adhesion to the substrate must also be removed.
Extremely porous and powdery substrates (e.g. gypsum or prefabricated plaster panels, etc.) should be treated with QUICSEAL 113 PRIMER C before laying tiles with QUICSEAL 604 + QUICSEAL 602.
It is advisable to allow screeds and renders to cure for at least 7 days and surfaces that have become heated from exposure to direct sunlight should be dampened with water to prevent premature curing.
Mixing Instructions
Pour 1 part of QUICSEAL 604 TileMix (Type II) into a clean container and slowly add 4 parts QUICSEAL 602 Thin-Set Powder by weight and stir with a low speed mechanical mixer and until a homogeneous and lump free paste is obtained. Leave to rest for 5 minutes and re-stir before use.
Application
To achieve good adhesion, firstly apply a thin coat of QUICSEAL 604 + QUICSEAL 602 firmly onto the substrate using the straight edge of the trowel followed immediately with the appropriate amount of adhesive with the notch side to achieve the required thickness. The correct notched trowel size to use will depend on the type and size of the tiles.
For large sized tiles and tiles with lugs and grooves, apply a coat of QUICSEAL 604 + QUICSEAL 602 to the back of the tiles to ensure sufficient coverage when laid.
Lay the tiles onto the adhesive and ensure that a firm pressure is applied to achieve good contact with the adhesive.
Unfavourable climatic conditions such as strong sunlight, wind and high temperature, etc. and very porous substrates may reduce the open time of the adhesive.
Hence, careful checks have to be made to ensure that skinning does not occur on the surface of the adhesive before laying the tiles. If a skinning has occurred, rework the adhesive before laying the tiles. The tiles must be adjusted within 30 minutes after laying and must be protected from rain or strong sun for at least 24 hours.
Tile joints can be grouted usually 6 to 8 hours after laying the tiles
Cleaning
All tools and hands may be cleaned with abundant water before the adhesive sets. After setting, cleaning becomes very difficult but can usually be helped by mechanical means.
Health & Safety
QUICSEAL 604 + QUICSEAL 602 is non-toxic and non-flammable. Any splashes to the skin or eyes should be washed off with clean water. In the event of prolonged irritation, seek medical advice. QUICSEAL 604 + QUICSEAL 602 is slightly alkaline and skin contact should be avoided. Gloves and goggles should be worn.
