In collaboration with Holcim Australia, Cement Australia GreenCem™ technology has been used for the first time to reduce embodied carbon in the concrete used to construct the City of Port Adelaide Enfield’s Yitpi Yartapuultiku Cultural Centre.
GreenCem™ technology enables up to 80% replacement of general purpose cement with fly ash and/or slag, sourced entirely within Australia as a waste by-product from power stations and steel manufacturers, while achieving comparable concrete strength to general purpose (GP) cement.
This technology is the culmination of several years of effort by our own technical team and NATA accredited laboratory, to enable high performing low carbon concrete and help contribute towards the cement and concrete industry’s ambition for net zero carbon concrete by 2050.
Currently, GreenCem™ technology is available for bulk distribution in commercial building projects.
For the retail market, Low Carbon cements in 20kg and 1 tonne are available through selected distributors.
