ForestOne's new range of EGGER decors not only adds warmth and vibrancy to a suite of workspaces in Brisbane - it's also perfectly aligned with the project's sustainability goals.
When Growthpoint Properties approached Chloe Roehrig, director of CE Architects, to fit out five tenancies across two floors of its CB1 commercial building in the SW1 business precinct in South Brisbane, the company had a clear vision. “The offices needed to be designed with a strong focus on sustainability and creating a unique connection to place,” Roehrig recalls. “The aim was to craft workspaces that were both environmentally conscious and culturally rich, blending design with a sense of belonging.
“That meant using sustainable materials, reusing existing components like furniture, flooring and ceiling grids, and incorporating local First Nations artists’ works,” she explains. “Aesthetic appeal and functionality were also to align with sustainability principles. Additionally, the space needed to offer flexibility, supporting the evolving needs of tenants and fostering a productive, engaging work environment.”
Roehrig’s design approach centred on creating a consistency across the five tenancies that honoured the building’s finishes while imbuing each with a sense of individuality, and embracing both city views and the abundance of natural light. Colours and textures inspired by nature were also an integral factor, and Roehrig turned to ForestOne’s new range of EGGER decors to bring the hues of the Australian landscape to the workspaces.
“The space needed to offer flexibility, supporting the evolving needs of tenants and fostering a productive, engaging work environment.”
“We began by defining a distinct colour palette and material strategy for each tenancy, drawing inspiration from our rich and rugged landscape,” she recalls. “The natural browns, pinks and reds of the ground and rocks in the Outback were paired with the soft greens and blues of native trees and rivers.” New EGGER colours such as Truffle Brown, Sage Green, Garnet Red, Baltic Blue, Almond Beige and Rusty Red were used for key joinery and furniture pieces throughout the project. Not only did they add vibrancy but their “universally palatable quality” were ideal for workplaces designed as speculative suites “where tenant flexibility is key.”
The EGGER laminates also perfectly aligned with the project’s sustainability targets. “The range is produced using closed-loop processes, maximising resource efficiency and delivering high-quality finishes,” says Roehrig. “Its alignment with CE Architects’ environmental goals ensured the project minimised waste while delivering high-quality finishes.”

For Roehrig, Melbourne Street’s celebration of colour reflects a trend to embrace more vibrancy in commercial interiors. “There’s a growing demand for interiors that feel more welcoming and comfortable, allowing people to be at ease and, in turn, more productive. The colours for this project evoke calmness, warmth and inspiration while fostering creativity and local connection. The inclusion of natural and earthy tones, complemented by vibrant accents, makes it feel welcoming, grounded and stimulating.”
