Traditional Colonial interior styling was formal with high grade mahogany furnishings and elaborate materials of tapestries, brocades, velveteens and linen. Colours were natural, somber shades of whites, brown, yellows, reds and greys. Decorative features such as ornamental fruit, animals, detailed candlestick lamps and gold leaf mirrors were popular. Portraits and hunting scenes were particularly favored for wall decoration as well as laquered brass or pewter sconces and chandeliers.
Fastforward to today and this home, created and built by Melandra Homes, uses more vibrant shades from the Colonial colour palette, features beautiful wall panelling with detailed chair rail and is finished with natural timber flooring. Elaborate skirting boards, stunning stained glass windows adorned with detailed architraves and sill nosing complete the design.
The clean lines and purposeful space make this a tasteful, warm and inviting place we would love to be going home to everyday.
