In March 2025, Kömmerling Australia celebrated a significant milestone with the official opening of its new Lamination Centre in Melbourne. This facility introduces advanced colour and foil technology to the local market for the first time.
This investment marks a major advancement for the Australian window and door industry. Previously, Kömmerling’s premium laminated finishes were only available through special orders from overseas. Now, these finishes are manufactured locally, allowing for faster delivery, greater flexibility, and solutions specifically tailored to Australian design and environmental conditions.
At the core of the new facility is cutting-edge German technology that applies high-performance decorative foils to uPVC profiles with precision and consistency. These foils serve a dual purpose: they are not only decorative but also form a durable protective layer designed to withstand Australia’s harsh climate.
The laminated finishes are crafted for long-term performance, exhibiting resistance to fading, scratching, moisture, and UV exposure. This ensures that windows and doors maintain their appearance and structural integrity over time, even in demanding coastal, urban, and high-exposure environments.
From a design perspective, the Lamination Centre provides architects, builders, and homeowners with new creative possibilities. The expanded range includes authentic woodgrain textures, modern metallics, refined matte finishes, and smooth contemporary surfaces, facilitating seamless integration with various Australian facades, from coastal homes to urban developments.
Importantly, this development aligns with Kömmerling’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. By combining high-performance uPVC systems with advanced foil technology, the company not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of buildings but also contributes to thermal efficiency, durability, and long product life cycles.
Additionally, localising this process reduces reliance on international supply chains, minimises transport impacts, and supports the Australian manufacturing sector.
With the opening of the Melbourne Lamination Centre, Kömmerling strengthens its position as a leader in innovative, sustainable building solutions. This new facility brings global technology closer to home and sets a new benchmark for performance and design in the Australian market.
