Coastal Pavilions Freycinet Lodge

Freycinet National Park

“We have drawn inspiration from this unique setting to influence the architecture and interiors of the pavilions. The design has taken its cue from the fluidity and layers of the coastal rock formations, the colouring of the rich orange lichen and forms of the nearby bays. The exteriors are treated in a recessive way so as not to compete with this beautiful landscape.” Peta Heffernan

We are delighted to have been the architects for RACT Destinations' Coastal Pavilions at Freycinet Lodge. Within the existing footprint of the Lodge’s lease boundary and working closely with Tourism Advisor and Project Manager, Brett Torossi, we were engaged to improve the current facilities and range of accommodation offerings through creating transformative, diverse experiences offering a point of difference that pays homage to such a beautiful and unique part of the world on the east coast of Tasmania, Australia.

Designed by LIMINAL Architecture with interiors by LIMINAL Spaces, and furniture design by LIMINAL Objects, the range of new accommodation adds diversity that will co-exist with the cabins that formed part of the original development in the early 1990’s, underpinned by ecologically sustainable design. Recognition for the design of the Coastal Pavilions in particular has reached international acclaim, putting Freycinet Lodge on the global map.

The Coastal Pavilions at Freycinet Lodge have received a number of national and international awards for architecture and design excellence.
