The new Go Kindy Child Care Centre is located close to the Newcastle Interchange in the developing Newcastle West Commercial Precinct. This urban childcare facility is on 3 individual levels with the ground floor consisting of 23 car parking spaces and a secure lift lobby while the upper two levels accommodate a total of 106 children. The lowest upper level caters for 40 preschool and 30 toddlers, with the internal playrooms directly accessing a large open landscaped play area centred around a 10m high model eucalypt tree. This external area also includes a 3.0m high hand painted wall mural that extends around the playground’s perimeter walls. The level above includes the main reception and staff facilities as well as accommodating 36 babies. All playrooms feature their own distinctive colour scheme which is carried through into the joinery, pinboards, room graphics and the suspended acoustic circular ceiling panels.
