Actus Associates were engaged to refurbish the student facilities at the existing heritage Prindiville Hall building to increase student engagement and usability in the Student Lounge, Student Clubs and Societies, and Student Association spaces.
The original 2018 design of the ground floor Student Lounge was intended as a casual lounging area suited to large groups of students. However over a short period of time, a rapid decline in the use of the area was evident. After a series of Client and key stakeholder workshops, Actus Associates proposed a new ground floor space with small clusters of seating suitable for individual study or small groups to gather between classes.
The first floor Student Clubs and Societies area will also see the replacement of a space that was almost entirely dedicated to storage cages. New interactive table settings intermingled with lockers to this level will serve a dual purpose in providing students additional areas to meet and study during the day, and a space for various Student Clubs to collaborate in the evenings.
The Student Association space at Prindiville Hall will also be refurbished to encourage collaborative working and mimc the professional working environment to enable students to transition from higher studies into the workforce.
