St. Regis brings its uber-opulence to Macau with a design that honors the city’s multicultural, maritime-oriented heritage.
Designers created a luxe environment that drew inspiration from the Chinese and Portuguese influences of its Asian locale, as well as the flag’s storied New York origins. Curved waves from the nearby Pearl River, a powerful, life-giving force that is the raison d’être for this diverse heritage, provided the visual link between past, present and future.
The Bar
One of the most striking installations within the hotel is the funky, kaleidoscopic mural behind the bar. The layered, etched and painted backlit glass is stunning—a real jewel in the property.
The Manor
The fine dining restaurant feels understated, with a creamy gold palette enlivened by colorful artwork.
The Guest Rooms
A delicate palette with mother of pearl, soft leather and bird’s eye maple finishes embellishes the integrated headboards, punctuated by deep aquamarine accents that pay homage to the surrounding waters. The design team was challenged to use the existing architectural floor plate intended for a budget hotel, to create interiors that achieved the level of upscale luxury expected in the St. Regis hotel brand.
