White Lace gets it’s name from one of the prominent characteristic elements of the original home - the white lace balustrade - which provided a platform for design inspiration. The laser-cut screen inspiration arose from a contemporary reinterpretation of the existing white lace balustrade at the front of the original house. It is effective in marrying the front of the house to the rear extension, and is multi-functional through shading and filtering sunlight, as well as providing privacy screening.
The herringbone timber floors can be seen as a play-on the traditional theme of architectural styling, and provide a robust, contrasting base to the light and bright elements overhead. The other primary materials used throughout the project are accoya timber windows and doors, black stained oak cabinetry, brass accessories and highlights, super white natural marble, porcelain tiles to the upstairs bathrooms, and concrete.
