Following 1000 days of research on brutalist architecture in Hong Kong, unexpectedly, numerous dusty archives that were once scattered everywhere have been found. These archives include original building plans, design sketches, old photographs, publications, as well as introductory texts and documents from architects’ studios. One of the most astonishing discoveries amongst them is the scale model of Stewards Pooi Tun Secondary School, once featured in the March 1972 issue of Asian Architect & Builder magazine. Until today, it is well preserved by the school for over half a century.

Taking place across 22 halls of the China Import and Export Complex in Guangzhou, Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE) closed on 12 June 2023 attracting 3,318 exhibitors and 207,681 visitors to its 28th edition, concurrently with Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology (GEBT). This represented a 157% and 62% increase from the previous edition.

Under the theme of “Connecting the World with Innovations for Better Living”, Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition) features more than 600 exhibitors. A variety of lighting products and solutions are conveniently arranged in themed zones to facilitate buyers’ sourcing. The fair’s premium section, the Hall of Aurora, shines a spotlight on renowned brands and their creative designs. The Connected and Smart Lighting zone presents the latest lighting solutions, including systems that help save energy and build a smarter home or office. Other lighting sectors are also covered at the fair, including Commercial Lighting, Decorative Lighting, Residential Lighting and Technical Lighting. This year, the fair adopts the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model, providing buyers with sourcing opportunities not only at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, but also through the HKTDC smart business matching platform Click2Match and the hktdc.com Sourcing platform. It also enables buyers to schedule and conduct online meetings with local and overseas exhibitors via Click2Match for an extended period from 12 to 22 April.
