Located in the trendy and hip neighborhood of Causeway Bay, Leica Store Hong Kong is the first Leica shop that blends Leica camera boutique with a cafe, an accessories shop, and a photography gallery.
Designed by LAAB Architects, Leica Store Hong Kong tells its own cultural story by carefully fusing camera elements with local visual language and transforming them into a unique spatial experience. The pleated metal façade is inspired by the texture of camera lens; the mosaic tiles on the floor assembles a pixelated image that is also a traditional floor feature found in Hong Kong. Wrapped in black and white walls with a slight touch of antique brass, the design of Leica Store Hong Kong immerses visitors in the world of photography that captures the cultural essence of Hong Kong.
Leica Store Hong Kong is also unique in what it offers — it is the first in Hong Kong to integrate lifestyle experiences with a camera shop. Elegantly stands at the shopfront, Café Leitz sells more than just a cup of coffee. Inspired by the local market stall, the architecture of Café Leitz opens during the day and closes at night. During the day, natural light shines through the translucent glass panels, offering bright and open experiences that resemble the Leica factory in Germany.
On the other side of the café is an intimate gallery space that exhibits photography arts on a regular basis. Behind the Café counter is a space dedicated to photography accessories, where Leica brand accessories are for sale. Several mobile display units separate the gallery from the café and accessories space. These mobile display units can be easily moved around to reorganize the space for seminars and workshops. At the back of the store is a Leica camera boutique that showcases different models of Leica cameras, from the latest to the antiques. A “shutter” door brings the VIPs to an exclusive room.
Leica Store Hong Kong is also close to F11 Foto Museum and f22 foto space, two world-class cultural spaces dedicated to photography arts. You can visit the three spaces in one tram ride and have an exquisite photography journey in one day!
