Once an industrious flour mill, now the centrepiece of a unique Sydney community.
Working closely with our client, we steered the project all the way from master planning through to the design of buildings and open spaces across this iconic industrial site in the city’s inner west.
Locked away for more than 100 years, the mill is now a thriving mixed-use ‘village’ with homes, shops, cafés, parks, plazas, laneways and links to new light rail – a model for urban regeneration.
By retaining and reusing many of the existing buildings – including the mill’s towering grain silos, now apartments – Summer Hill also shows that with thoughtful planning and ingenuity we can support a city’s growth without sacrificing part of its history.
