Yakitori Yamato HK - 燒鳥 (香港店) is a Japanese Yakitori restaurant located in Wan Chai, Hong Kong. The restaurant is operated by Lai Sun Dining group. The total area is approximately 2,300 sq ft. and was completed in December 2021.
The design concept of Yakitori Yamato HK is derived from the Wabi-Sabi aesthetics of the Yamato nation. The designer handles the space with contemporary design techniques, presenting the feeling of "flow, floating, transparency, and dematerialization"
On the facade, simple Japanese-style outlines have been designed, which have been staggered and bumped to create a juxtaposed layering. Lighting effects are introduced to highlight the design lines. In addition, the signboard position is treated with a simple and blank method for a sharp contrast.
The designer used a balanced and symmetrical reflection design technique in the main dining area to depict the mountain shape, which was inspired by Mount Fuji in Lake Kawaguchi. The ceiling was used as paper to present Mount Fuji on the paper, and the water wave metal was a three-dimensional mountain shape standing on the lake. Guests dine in a relief sculpture composition of the reflection of Mount Fuji.
In the VIP room, the designer created a simple Japanese wooden lattice ceiling, introducing artificial natural light, and simple lines on both sides, which is intended to show the imperfect log main dining table in the wabi-sabi aesthetics, making the guests in the VIP room lie Dine in the quiet and pleasant countryside
The overall restaurant materials use dematerialized raw materials, wood-strip and washi paper, coupled with plain Japanese diatomaceous earth for rock and sandstone, corrugated steel, and other materials.
