Songpa Square, located in the heart of the busy Jamsil-dong neighbourhood of Seoul, is a hub for commuters arriving by train, bus and cars and connects two of the largest retail developments in Seoul. LDA was appointed to deliver a modern and dynamic space, improve people flows and enhance customer experience in a challenging existing underground environment. The 160x60m subterranean square is a one level public realm space that provides commuters with shops, restaurants, community facilities and space to rest and relax. LDA’s scope consisted of concept design to final tender documentation in 8 months.
