As one of a number of major projects in the regional centre of Strathalbyn, we redeveloped the original 1880’s school building from a Council chambers into a new Library and Civic Centre.
The project is located over the road from our swimming centre project and together complete the western end of a commercial and civic precinct.
Identifying features such as the over scaled corrugated roof and public art are visual cues to a programme of community interface and environmental sustainability.
The project incorporates numerous environmental credentials with the fully automated natural ventilation system proving a major cost saving to air conditioning expenses.
The community engagement has been significant and contemporary library design as a hub for learning, activity and interaction sees the multiple different spaces used by multiple groups of different ages and interests.
