Resort World Sentosa

Singapore

Opening up a world of excitement

Resorts World Sentosa is one of the world’s largest tourism projects – and one of Singapore’s greenest. It’s full of environmentally-friendly features, including a huge solar installation.

Resorts World Sentosa is a huge 40ha tourist destination in Singapore. Boasting hotels, a theatre, spa and multiple restaurants, it’s also home to an exciting range of visitor attractions. There’s a Universal Studios theme park, a maritime museum, and, at the time of its construction, the world’s largest oceanarium.

Resorts World Sentosa’s exciting range of attractions is matched by the exciting green features that we delivered through our mechanical and electrical engineering services.

For starters, there’s the solar installation. One of Singapore’s largest, it can generate more than 500,000kWh of energy per year. There’s also an eco-lagoon and underground storage tanks which recycle rainwater to water the extensive lush green surroundings.

Other green features include greening of rooftops, and an eco-cooler system. It uses water and up to 20% less energy than traditional coolers and cools canopied areas and queue lines within the theme park.

The project team worked hard to preserve around 300 trees, and even relocated an entire coral fringe before construction started.

As a result of this attention to green detail, Resorts World Sentosa was awarded a GoldPlus Green Mark rating for Districts by Singapore's Building and Construction Authority in 2010.
