About YUME Architects

YUME means to dream. Architecture begins with this aspirational act. To make a difference in someone’s life through design. We are an Architecture design practice based in Singapore and Japan. With a background spanning architecture and art, engineering and economics, we strive to realise projects that are simultaneously ambitious and pragmatic. Architecture is complex. Lying somewhere between Art and Science, it needs to be visionary yet feasible. It straddles the functional and (humanly) irrational, flits between familiar and unfamiliar. Both a physical statement and a phenomenal experience. Architecture is consequential. It affects the environment and becomes part of our shared culture. It can move us emotionally, bring wonder and excitement, or peace and calm. It impacts our lives in both subtle and obvious ways. Designing ethically is our responsibility. We want to play a part in tackling today’s problems and more importantly, dream and innovate in creating a better, more sustainable future.
