SJ Espacer is Safetyline Jalousie’s large-format louvre system, featuring 235mm blades and developed for high-performance commercial and institutional facades. Manufactured in Australia for predictable lead times and programme certainty.
The system is currently being manufactured and installed on some of Australia’s most technically demanding projects — from heritage adaptive reuse to 6 Star Green Star institutional buildings to elite athlete training facilities. Here’s how it’s addressing real facade challenges across three landmark builds.
Cox Architecture | 6M adaptive reuse | Completion 2027
Canva’s new Global HQ is one of Australia’s most ambitious adaptive reuse projects — a 6M transformation of a 1970s building targeting 100% renewable energy, heritage facade retention, Green Star performance outcomes, and 95% material reuse. Located in dense urban Surry Hills, the building must balance natural ventilation and thermal comfort with acoustic control in a high-noise environment.

Grimshaw | 6 Star Green Star target | Completion 2027
Curtin University’s new B316 Sciences Building targets World Leadership in sustainability with a 6 Star Green Star rating. The 00M facility features 850kW solar capacity, a highly transparent glazed facade (70% glass), and advanced laboratory environments. With most of the facade committed to glazing, the remaining 30% must ventilate at an elite level while maintaining thermal performance and sealed envelope integrity.

Populous | 5M | UOW Innovation Campus | Completion 2026
The Dragons’ new Community and High Performance Centre at UOW’s Innovation Campus consolidates NRL and NRLW operations under one roof, with strength and conditioning spaces, sports science facilities, aquatic recovery zones, altitude training chambers, and community program spaces. The brief demanded high natural ventilation for training areas, acoustic separation between zones, energy performance across diverse functions, and a strong architectural identity incorporating Connection to Country principles.

Canva HQ, Curtin B316, and the Dragons Community High Performance Centre represent just a sample of the work currently underway with SJ Espacer across commercial, institutional, and community sectors.
Whether the challenge is acoustic control, thermal performance, air infiltration, sustainability credentials, or architectural expression, SJ Espacer is delivering measurable results on major Australian builds.
