485 MetaGalaxy is a designer cluster label dedicated to pushing the boundaries of design and leading future design trends. It unites design elites from various fields including architecture, interior design, art, and technology. The concept originated from Yuhe Lightyear's office at 485 Fenglin Road, with the new office space aiming to foster an open and inclusive environment for communication and innovation, facilitate dialogue among designers, and promote the development of a cross-professional design ecosystem.
Chinatown Fit for a Mall: A Gate to Chinese Culture in Dubai
Boasting an aquarium, cinemas, and even a dinosaur fossil, the Dubai Mall is nothing if not larger-than-life. Fittingly, for the mall’s newest extension Kokaistudios amplified key visual identifiers of Far East Asian culture – including fans, lanterns, and lattice – for an alternative take on traditional Chinatowns.
Architectural Intelligence 2024: AIA International Conference Concludes in Hong Kong
The AIA International Conference 2024, held from October 23rd to 27th, brought together a vibrant mix of architects, designers, and thought leaders in Hong Kong, all united under the theme "Architectural Intelligence." Heritage Survival – Opportunities and Threats of Heritage Tourism to Historic Landscapes – Event Series – Field Trip: Searching for Hakka Culture in Sha Tau Kok and Heritage in Former Frontier Closed Area 尋訪沙頭角客家文化與前邊境禁區遺跡
Located in Hong Kong’s northeastern New Territories, Sha Tau Kok has been a significant settlement of Hakka people for more than 200 years. Despite its rich cultural and historical resources, many people have never visited this mysterious place. The government began opening the area in phases starting from 2012, with further openings in June 2022 and January 2024 for various reasons including tourism. Our exploration aims to shed light on the overlooked Hakka culture and military heritage in the region.
