Alba is the leading decorative paint brand in Argentina, whose mission is to bring color to people's lives. We believe in the transformative power of color, which gives life and energy.
Alba is a specialist in color advice and provides a wide range of products, services and digital tools that accompany users from inspiration to the realization of all their projects. At Alba we accompany the creation of exclusive environments through the use of color in paint, so that users achieve environments full of life and at the same time decorate and protect, either the home or any other space they wish.
Solidly positioned as the most important paint brand in Argentina, Alba is already considered by users as a true synonym for the best paint in the country.
Our history
Everything began to take shape in 1925 in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Pompeya. That year Alba, the first paint factory in South America, was inaugurated. Over time, it became a synonym for painting, until it became the most important company in the sector in Argentina. A pioneering plant of almost 1,500 square meters, it was the initial setting for the first and most prestigious paint company in Argentina.
The Alba product began to be manufactured there, with the development of various lines of domestic, marine and industrial paints. At that time, the factory produced about 300 tons of paint per year, a volume that is currently achieved in a single working day.
It was precisely the success achieved and the increase in demand and production that led to the expansion of the facilities.
This path of growth finds the company today with its modern 55,000-square-meter manufacturing plant in the town of Garín, province of Buenos Aires, on a thirty-hectare parkland.
In April 1996 Alba was acquired by the ICI Group, Imperial Chemical Industries, one of the most important chemical companies in the world. The company's position was strengthened when, together with other leading brands in the region, such as Pinturas Inca, from Uruguay, and Tintas Coral, from Brazil. ICI Paints invested in the three companies for more than 390 million dollars, becoming the first company in the world to exceed 1 billion liters of paint sold per year.
A pioneer in the country, in 1992 Alba launched a new way of marketing color on the market. The advanced technology of the tinting system made it easy for users to choose the color, being able to confidently prepare more than 8,000 colors on the spot and in the best paints.
Since January 2008 Alba belongs to AkzoNobel's Decorative Paintings Business Unit, after the acquisition that this company made of ICI.
This marks a milestone in the trajectory of our brand, as it adds to its recognized local leadership, the international leadership that arises from the combination of AkzoNobel and ICI.
Today AkzoNobel is the world's largest coatings manufacturer, number one in decorative paints and leading supplier in specialty chemicals, employing approximately more than 50,000 people with a presence in 80 countries and headquartered in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
This is the synthesis of a long trajectory that already has more than 85 years of uninterrupted work and development in the country, where today, more than four hundred highly trained people, ensure the premium quality of the best Argentine paintings.
The trajectory of this historical brand, positions Alba in a solidly structured leadership on the achievements that the company has achieved since its inception, offering products that are permanently at the forefront of quality, innovation and trust. The extreme care put into this task made ALBA also the first paint factory in Argentina to certify the quality management system through ISO 9001 Standards, an achievement it achieved in 1994. Currently, ALBA's industrial plant has a capacity monthly production of 5,000,000 liters of latex and synthetics, 250,000 liters of industrial paint and 1,600,000 kilograms of resins.
Brand prestige, leadership in the main market segments, innovative attitude, international technology, sales force and distribution throughout the country and a highly trained service, are some of the keys that make us the most complete and modern paint company. of Argentina.
