AIA Hong Kong is set to host an engaging symposium that will bridge the architectural insights gained from recent explorations of Southeast Asia with the local community. Over the past three years, AIA Hong Kong members have traveled to Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, and Manila, immersing themselves in the rich and diverse architectural landscape of the region.

This event aims to bring these valuable experiences back to Hong Kong, providing architects with a nuanced understanding of the geopolitical, cultural, and environmental factors influencing architectural practices across Southeast Asia.

Program Highlights
The symposium will feature structured discussions and real-world case studies, fostering dynamic exchanges among architects, clients, and industry stakeholders. It prioritizes practical knowledge-sharing, focusing on the experiences of practitioners actively engaged in projects throughout Southeast Asia.

Networking Luncheon: Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from speakers who possess firsthand experience with current and recent projects, offering actionable insights into the realities of regional practice. This emphasis on practical knowledge aims to cultivate collaboration among professionals.

Keynote Sessions:
Opening Remarks: John Chan, Regional Director of AHEC, will discuss the complexities of designing within the diverse socio-political contexts of Southeast Asia.

Panel Discussions:
Vietnam, Philippines, and Thailand: This session will delve into the importance of collaboration between local and international architects, highlighting successful partnerships.

Innovating Opportunities: A focus on how architects can leverage Southeast Asia's unique context to foster climate-resilient designs and innovative business models.

Cultural Landscapes: AECOM will explore how architecture and urban design can shape Southeast Asia’s cultural identity, emphasizing the integration of ecological and cultural considerations.
